The new signing at Luton Town is very happy to have signed for the club and has been speaking highly of them, regarding the club as the best in the league.

Having turned out for another League One outfit Barnsley this term, the midfielder is in the best position to judge which of the teams are better.

Luton Town got smashed by the Tykes 3-2 earlier in the season and could only hold out for a goalless draw in the reverse fixture on New Year’s Day at Kenilworth Road but Moncur is still adamant that his new team is the better side.

Speaking immediately after his move to Luton, the midfielder revealed that he has moved to the ‘best team’ in the league insisting that they have the best players and are going for honors this season.

George Moncur amassed 22 league appearances for Barnsley this season before his exit. However, just 11 of them were starts while the remaining 11 were off the bench.

The player has now signed a deal with promotion rivals Luton Town on a two and a half year contract and will be looking to hit the ground running at Kenilworth Road.

Moncur also reserved some praise for his former club and teammates, thanking them for their support throughout his two years at the club and wishing them the best for the future.

He has been warmly welcomed at Luton Town as former club player Cameron McGeehan congratulating Moncur for making the ‘big step’ to play for the club and wishing him success.

TOMMY WRIGHT TURNS DOWN BRISTOL TO REMAIN AT BARNSLEY https://www.tykesblog.net/tommy-wright-turns-down-bristol-to-remain-at-barnsley/ Thu, 28 Jul 2016 11:15:34 +0000 http://www.tykesblog.net/?p=143 Tommy Wright has turned down an approach from Bristol City for his signature as he opted to remain at Barnsley in the forthcoming season, according to reports.

City wanted the coach to join their squad due to his performance in the last campaign but he rejected it. Barnsley also lost their bid for Plymouth defender Curtis Nelson as their approach was turned down instantly by the club.

Tommy Wright has enjoyed a lot of links with Bristol City especially at the prospect of reuniting Lee Johnson at Bristol City. From when the manager left Barnsley for the Ashton Gate, the 50-year old has been linked to the club but he was offered the Under21 role at the Championship side which he promptly rejected. Wright didn’t just turn down the coaching role; he signed a new deal with Barnsley. The club says it wouldn’t improve on the offer for Nelson.

Also, Otis Khan, who joined Barnsley in January from Sheffield United after they released him, has opted to join League Two side Yeovil. When Barnsley won promotion, he only managed three appearances in the first team but signed a one-year deal with Yeovil to get regular first team action. His new coach told the club’s official website: “I am really excited to be able to work with Otis, he has a really good pedigree. He has an unbelievable desire and determination to do well and I am sure his career at Yeonvil Town will be successful.”

The 20-year old player signed a deal for 18 months when he joined Barnsley but he knew he would struggle for attention into Paul Heckingbottom’s Championship plans so he decided to look away. The player claimed the decision was in his career’s best interest and the club wished him well.
