Mike Steven Bahre – Tykes Blog https://www.tykesblog.net Bring on Barnsley Tue, 25 Sep 2018 12:33:45 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 Steven Bahre Says Barnsley Has A Bright Future https://www.tykesblog.net/steven-bahre-says-barnsley-has-a-bright-future/ Tue, 25 Sep 2018 12:33:45 +0000 https://www.tykesblog.net/?p=172 Mike Steven Bahre the new signing admitted how big and popular at club Barnsley is and is proud to be a part of it. The midfielder from Germany made his move from Hannover to English football in the end of august beating the deadline of the loan within a few minutes. Bahre was unaware of what he has got himself into post his swapping to League One from Bundesliga. However, in no time realized the popularity of the club, especially after he played 2 matches in his first week of joining.

As far as the Checkatrade Trophy is concerned, it is known to be a not so big competition. However, 433 Reds travelled to the Pennines just to see Bahre showing his outstanding debut with a victory of 2-1 in Oldham. Thereafter, the 23 year old performed for 90 minutes at Oakwell and said he has been surprised as its much bigger club than he actually thought. It is certainly not like that third league, but a competitive sector with some great players and best quality players.

One of the main reasons for the arrival of Bahre at Barnsley was none other than Daniel Stendel who was managing his compatriot at Hannover. He was appointed as a head coach of Reds in June and soon after recognizing players to make his side strong to lead the club. Bahre said it was his wish to be there, but when the manager was at Barnsley and told him he wished to take him along, he immediately agreed. In fact, Stendel is the big reason for his decision of joining the club. Bahre is quite pleased to be a part of Barnsley and is hopeful to do something big to make the club proud. The Reds are all set to welcome back Kenny Dougall and Adam Davies from their international duty to prepare for the League One of Coventry.

YIADOM REJECTS BARNSLEY OFFER https://www.tykesblog.net/yiadom-rejects-barnsley-offer/ Tue, 15 Aug 2017 03:48:50 +0000 http://www.tykesblog.net/?p=161 Barnsley coach Paul Heckingbottom has confirmed that Andy Yiadom has refused to agree to fresh terms from the club.

The offer would reportedly make him one of the best paid at the club but he decided to put it off amid interests in him.

Huddersfield Town have submitted a bid that was rejected but they are expected to return with an improved package. Reading and Swansea are reportedly keen on the right back as well. Heckingbottom said the club has not received an official bid for the 25-year old aside the rebuffed deal rom Huddersfield. The coach adds that the player remains part of his plans despite the strong speculations that he could exit soon.

Heckingbottom is disappointed that Yiadom and his reps turned down the offer from the Reds as he insists on seeing off his current deal.

“He has rejected a new deal at the club. He wants to see his contract and see what things are there for him. It was similar when we took him from Barnet. One thing is for sure, we will have a hungry player on our hands who is trying to impress everybody to earn the best possible contract where he can, whether it is here or elsewhere,” the manager said.

He added that the Reds offer was “a very good contract” but that the player rejected it nonetheless. Ahead of the Championship opener against Bristol City, the coach said Lloyd Isgrove would miss the game and the rest for the month due to foot ligament injury. Zeki Fryers and Liam Lindsay would also miss the opener due to hamstring and groin injury respectively.

Heckingbottom would be consoled that Brad Potts joined from Blackpool as he hopes Yiadom extends.

Heckingbottom wants to build team https://www.tykesblog.net/heckingbottom-wants-to-build-team/ Tue, 04 Jul 2017 10:22:57 +0000 http://www.tykesblog.net/?p=159 Barnsley’s manager Paul Heckingbottom said that he wants a chance to build a team at Barnsley.

He said that the team would go nowhere if they keep selling their best players and that they need to rebuild at the start of each season.

He said that understands that the club is a small one and that the only way to survive is to sell their best players, but he feels that as a manager he needs to be given a chance to build a team over a period of time.

He said that he wants people to judge him after he has managed to build a team over a period of time rather than to judge him after each season where he starts with some new faces.

He believes that the club needs to take a decision about their objectives. Either they become a selling club that keeps on selling their best players without any objectives of their own, or they want to become a successful club by building a team that will be able to compete with the other teams in the league.

Heckingbottom said that as a manager he wants to win games as well as trophies, and this is not going to happen if they keep on selling their most valuable players at the end of each season.

He believes that Barnsley can have a chance of improving if they keep their best players and it is up to the chairman to decide what he wants to achieve.

He said that this season would be a good opportunity for the club to start from scratch as they will have to bring in some new players to replace those that are gone. He said that this would be the time to decide whether they will be a selling club or build for the future.

Paul Heckingbottom is preparing for a busy summer https://www.tykesblog.net/paul-heckingbottom-is-preparing-for-a-busy-summer/ Fri, 28 Apr 2017 13:07:07 +0000 http://www.tykesblog.net/?p=157 The summer transfer window will open on July 1st of the ongoing year and the head coach of Barnsley, Paul Heckingbottom has recently stated that it will be an intense and complicated period of time for him.

Paul Heckingbottom is the head coach of the English League Championshi club Barnsley and there is an issue that the 39 year old tactician has to resolve in order to avoid seeing his squad ending up with a severely limited amount of players.

Adam Armstrong, Matty James, Ryan Kent, Callum Elder, Gethin Jones and SaidyJanko are all of the Barnsley players that will have to make their return to their parent clubs as their loan deals with the English League Championship club is going to expire in the summer.

To make matters even worse for Paul Heckingbottom, there are a significant amount of Barnsley players that will have to extend their contracts or leave the club as their deals are nearing their respective end. These players that only have a few months left on their contracts are: Marley Watkins, Josh Scowen, Ryan Williams and Aidy White

It’s because of this that Paul Heckingbottom has recently came out and said that the summer transfer window will be a busy and tough period of time as the manager has to make a large amount of decisions that can make a huge difference in his squad.

“They’ll be a big turnover in players next season. We need a lot of players. In my head you’ve got to plan for the worst. My priority will be just getting players in because I know come the summer we’ll need lots of players. It’s difficult to know how many we will need. We’ve got x amount under contract, a few out of contract and obviously six loans. If you look at it like that and you think of the worst happening then that in itself is a big turnover’’ Barnsley’s Paul Heckingbottom said.

Barnsley fans want Hourihane to stay https://www.tykesblog.net/barnsley-fans-want-hourihane-to-stay/ Thu, 09 Feb 2017 12:47:02 +0000 http://www.tykesblog.net/?p=153 Barnsley fans have stated that they do not want their club to sell the captain ConorHourihane to Aston Villa.

Indeed Villa is looking to strengthen the team and is interested in signing the Barnsley player in the January transfer window.

Barnsley fans believe that this will weaken their team and make them less competitive in what is turning out to be a difficult season. They have already sold Sam Winnal to Sheffield Wednesday earlier in this transfer window, and they would feel that losing a player such as ConorHourihane will be dramatic for the club.

It appears that the Barnsley fans have started an online petition and gathering signatures to send to the club owner. They want to place pressure on the club in order to keep their best players.

Barnsley fans feel that the club is not being run properly and that the club is selling its best players. Long are the days when the club was in the Premier League, and fans feel that there will not be any repeat of this performance soon if the team continues to sell its best players.

They said that the owner is not putting the interest of the club first and that he is just looking at how he can make the most profit.

Barnsley is currently 8th in the table and fans will be hoping that the club will continue to push for a promotion place. However, it is the reverse that is happening with the club selling players such as Winnal and Hourinhane.

Both players have been instrumental this season in bringing the club to eight in the table, and fans feel that this would be a bad idea to sell this kind of players to teams that are in direct competition for a promotion place.

BARNSLEY PROSPECT’S DELIGHT AT EXTENDED DEAL https://www.tykesblog.net/barnsley-prospects-delight-at-extended-deal/ Tue, 20 Dec 2016 08:36:30 +0000 http://www.tykesblog.net/?p=151 Matty Templeton is thrilled that a loan extension will enable him to stay on the tough, physical learning phase of first team football.

The Barnsley prospect feels that his experience of the National League North at Gainsborough Trinity is doing the magic for him as a player and hints that it’s maybe more beneficial than playing Under 21s football.

It was confirmed last week that the wide player would stay with the Blues until January. He’s enjoying his playing time at the Martin and Co Arena, and getting the best out of it.

He said, “Playing games is what I wanted, I wanted to experience.”

The player asserted that there’s more of a crowd and it’s a lot more physical than 21s football. “I’m playing against players who are mostly older than me, a lot stronger and bigger.

To Templeton, game management is important; it’s all about three points unlike the under-21 football which is all about learning and developing. Templeton, who netted in the wins over Tamworth and Curzon Ashton, thanked Trinity boss Dom Roma for helping him add to his game.

“It’s been two years since I played at wing-back. Dom has taught me how to get on the ball, the type of passes to make from that position,” he said.

Templeton’s ambition is still to succeed at his parent club, but having found himself with a Championship side after their promotion last season, he was confronted with two options. He further asserted that since Barnsley got promoted, it’s been harder for younger lads to get involved. He is certain that he had made the right choice; he opined that going on loan helps a young player to get used to the physical part games.

Paul Heckingbottom wants James Bree to get more protection https://www.tykesblog.net/paul-heckingbottom-wants-james-bree-to-get-more-protection/ Thu, 17 Nov 2016 15:07:21 +0000 http://www.tykesblog.net/?p=149 The head coach of Barnsley FC, Paul Heckingbottom does not want to see James Bree get injured so consistently as he has been doing in recent times.

James Bree is a 18 year old defender who has been getting playing time in the first team despite being so young, he has already proved to have what it takes to perform along with the rest of the older figures.

One of the things that has been affecting the youngster are injuries as the English defender has picked up hamstring injuries that has left him out of action and unable to play for a number of matches.

James Bree is a clear up and rising figure that can contribute to Barnsley FC and this is why the head coach Paul Heckingbottom wants to give the youngster more protection in order for him to not sustain unnecessary or dangerous physical problems.

“Every time James has played a string of Saturday-Tuesdays it seems like he has picked up an injury. It’s something we need to certainly look at. He’s on the road to recovery but again he’s another one who has had problems in the past. Everyone’s going to miss games at some point but it’s about missing as few as possible. A part of our role with him is helping him to understand his body, what he needs, and changing his program.” Paul Heckingbottom said as he talked about James Bree and his current situation.

Paul Heckingbottom has a squad that is filled with youth performers including the likes of: James Bree, Jack Cowgill, Adam Armstrong, Ryan Kent, SaidyJanko, SessiD’Almeida, Cole Kpekawa, Elliot Lee and Callum Evans. All of these players mentioned range from 18-22 years of age which is considered to be as extremely young and Heckingbottom does not want to see any of these players that have their entire career lying ahead of them from suffering any serious injuries which can hamper their future.

ALFIE MAWSON SET TO JOIN SWANSEA https://www.tykesblog.net/alfie-mawson-set-to-join-swansea/ Thu, 22 Sep 2016 06:05:49 +0000 http://www.tykesblog.net/?p=147 English club Barnsley is set to lose their central defender Alfie Mawson to Premier League side Swansea City.

Mawson is set to undergo a medical examination at Swansea on Tuesday, according to reports from Sky Sports. Upon passing the tests, there would no stopping the move. The 22-year old has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League side, reports say.

The transfer fee for Mawson to move from Oakwell to Liberty Stadium is believed to be around £5 million. Barnsley was supposed to feature the player when they played Rotherham on Saturday but decided to start getting used to his departure earlier. However, they won the encounter with a overwhelming victory.
Swansea manager Francesco Guidolin confirmed reports that he was in the market to get a centre back before the transfer window closes, particularly after losing Welshman Ashley Williams to Everton. The club hasn’t started the new campaign on a bright note, hence the extra efforts at urgently getting a replacement.

“We are working to sign a player – a central defender. This is all I know at the moment because the chairman is working for this situation. I’m optimistic but I have always said that I’m happy with the group,” Guidolin claimed. Mawson is deemed to be a good buy after his impressive season at Barnsley following his Brentford move last June. He was instrumental in the League One play off final victory and Football League trophy. Paul Heckingbottom would definitely miss his offerings in the squad, especially as he has started well in the new term.

Mawson is key to the third place position of the Tykes, contributing two goals against Derby and Huddersfield. He started his career at Brentford but he was sent on loan several times. His move to Swansea would the eight for Guidolin this summer.

BARNSLEY WANT TOM BRADSHAW THIS SUMMER https://www.tykesblog.net/barnsley-want-tom-bradshaw-this-summer/ Fri, 19 Aug 2016 15:49:40 +0000 http://www.tykesblog.net/?p=145 Barnsley are reported to be very keen on landing Tom Bradshaw this summer.

The submitted a bid for the star player but it was rejected on the basis of a poor transfer deal. Barnsley were alleged to have submitted a bid for £250,000 but Walsall want close to £1million to the deal to go through. The 23-year old youngster is set to enter the final stages of his contract at the Banks’s Stadium and is likely to join in the exodus ongoing at the club this summer.

The Tykes are now set to increase their offer for the player so his club can release him for the move. Rangers also want the player’s signature but are yet to submit an official bid. Barnsley are reported to be interested in returning with an improved bid for the Welsh striker.

Aside Bradshaw, Barnsley are still pursuing Charlton Athletic winger Callum Harriott. Their previous bid was earlier turned down but there are reports that the club will improve their offer for the 22-year old. Harriott is also in the final year of his deal with his club and Barnsley want him to play for them in the coming season.

On the other hand, Walsall winger Romaine Sawyers, who was named as the League One PFA Team of the Year, will rejoin his former Saddlers boss Dean Smith at Brentford after rejecting a three-year contract to remain at the club. The 24-year old rising star wants out and has remained adamant despite being out of contract. John Egan, a defender with Gillingham and Southend goalkeeper Daniel Bentley are also set to join Sawyers in the move to Smith’s team. Smith already mentioned that the deals would be done as the pre-season plans begin. He says he has other plans for the club as they head into another season.

Should Wayne Rooney be chosen for EURO 2016? https://www.tykesblog.net/should-wayne-rooney-be-chosen-for-euro-2016/ Tue, 07 Jun 2016 07:25:36 +0000 http://www.tykesblog.net/?p=141 There is widespread debate amongst England fans in regard to the omission or decision to bring Wayne Rooney to the EURO’s.

Rooney’s injury and late return to football before the season ends means many England fans believe he should be left out in favour of other in-form talent. The likes of Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane have made a huge impression in the Premier League this season scoring 46 goals between them.

Wayne Rooney is set to make his lowest Premier League scoring tally since playing for Manchester United with only 7 goals to his name – every other season he has hit double figures. He recently returned to action against Aston Villa – however he wasn’t able to find the back of the net.

In the wake of Rooney’s absence plenty of other English players have been making their mark. Daniel Sturridge is getting more game time after recovering from another knee injury under Jurgen Klopp and reached 50 goals for Liverpool against Everton mid-week. Despite a lack of game time he still has 10 goals in 20 games for Liverpool this season, boasting a ratio of 0.5 goals a game.

Vardy and Kane have made notable impression throughout the whole season sharing the top scorer charts with Argentine Sergio Aguero. Vardy and Kane are both looking for the Premier League title in a two horse showdown – Hodgson will surely have no choice to take both players who have been massively influential in their club’s teams.

With Sturridge, Vardy and Kane almost certain to get picked – it will be a tight squeeze to fit Rooney in, however, he is the captain. Another play who will be disappointed on missing out will be former Manchester United player Danny Welbeck. Although his injury has been hampered by injuries he has a very respectable return when playing for England and scored some important goals in the qualifying campaign.
