Liam Lawrence has made his way back to his parent club PAOK Salonika after training with Barnsley for a few days. But, Danny Wilson, the Reds boss, is still optimistic about securing his services
Lawrence’s contract at PAOK is going to finish next summer and it’s not certain if the Greek club would be ready to let him go before that.
The 32 years old winger had joined PAOK at the start of the last season and his tenure over there has been decent till now, but, he is believed to be willing to return to England now.
Before making a way to Greece, Lawrence had played all his football in England for various clubs.
Talking to the reporters about the possibility of Lawrence joining Barnsley in near future, Wilson said, “Liam has returned back, but, still, he is on our radar. He is a very capable player and experienced too. We are in need of somebody like him at the moment.”
“Our situation is critical right now and we will have to turn things around at any cost.”
Barnsley is looking like a good candidate for suffering relegation. They are currently placed right at the bottom of the Championship points table with just 17 points in 24 games.
However, the good thing for the Reds is that they have got a bit of a break. Their last match against Charlton Athletic didn’t take place because of the wet pitch and their next match is a few days away. So, Wilson has got some extra time to think about his strategies.
Apart from Lawrence, Wilson is supposed to be interested in some other players as well and one of them is Leroy Lita who is currently a part of the Premier League club Swansea City.
